Bhimseni camphor is naturally formed in the stems of dryobalanops camphor grown in Dutch sumatra. Camphor symbolizes the flame of consciousness of the soul. It is believed that the ordinary camphor has saviour (tarak) properties by nature. Whereas the bhimseni camphor has destroyer (Marak) properties by nature and is therefore more powerful than ordinary camphor. These solid camphor crystals when burnt emit an aromatic fragrance which also acts an insect repellent. Camphor is usually used for religious pujas and ceremonies as well.
